HELISKI RUSSIA : EXCLUSIVE ORGANIZER OF THE HELISKI ACTIVITY ON THE DACHA STAYS

The Datcha Tinkoff Collection offers a great and unique offer of stays, on which we are both happy and honored to collaborate.

For many years, we have had the pleasure of guiding Oleg Tinkov, owner of the super yacht expedition La Datcha 77, on the slopes of Kamchatka. A Russian businessman and founder of Tinkoff Bank, Oleg Tinkov has a body-ridted adventure and a particular passion for heliskiing.

So it was only natural that he dreamed and built the luxury icebreaker La Datcha 77, equipped with two B3 Squirrel helicopters ready to take off to explore the most beautiful slopes.

Oleg Tinkov has chosen to trust us to organize and ensure the heliskiing part of the Datcha 77 stays. With his confidence, it is with excitement that we embark on this prestigious adventure!

LA DATCHA 77: LUXURY ACCOMMODATION & EXCITING EXPEDITIONS

Aboard the superyacht La Datcha, you’ll experience 8 exceptional days, a cocktail of luxury and adventure. A packed but well-balanced programme, promising you magical moments of skiing along with exploration of the northern part of this phenomenal volcanic peninsula.

You’ll find Kamchatka just off the pacific coast of Russia. Even its name sounds like an adventure. We’ll meet you in Petropavlovsk before heading north to the Anapka Isthmus.

You’ll explore wild and remote lands that few westerners have ever set foot on.

What about skiing? The Squirrel B3 is ready to take you to the top of the steepest slopes

Your trip

DAY 1

Arrival at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky airport where a member of our team will welcome you. A quick flight (about 1 hour) will take you to Ust-Kamchatsk, known as the fishing capital of Kamchatka! There, 2 helicopters will be waiting to take you on a 10 min. flight to Dacha.

This 1st flight will leave you breathless, discovering the awesome beauty of the region.

The yacht’s crew will welcome you on board. Once you’ve settled in, your guide will present the week’s program and explain safety procedures. Then it’ll be time for a delicious lunch with a magnificent view of the Shiveluch volcano.

In the early evening, La Datcha will head north and drop anchor in the Uka estuary.

DAY 2

On board the B3 we’ll head for Sredinny Range, a majestic mountain range in the heart of Kamchatka. We’ll ski the slopes of Khuvkhoitun volcano.

The afternoon will be spent fishing, a typical activity in Kamchatka!

Wild salmon is definitely the best and at the day’s end you can enjoy your fishing trophy on the barbecue, if you wish.

The yacht will anchor in Ossora Bay for the night.

DAY 3

Today, we’ll be discovering the northern part of the Scredinny range with some nice descents.

The Sredinny chain holds one of Kamchtaka’s most beautiful ridges, running almost 1200 km the length of peninsula.

The highest point of the chain is Ichinskaya Sopka volcano (3621 m) which is still active.

In the early afternoon we’ll head to Karaginsky Island which has many sea bird colonies. Following a short trail to the top of the cliff, we should be able to enjoy fantastic views of tufted puffins, Brunnich’s guillemots (also known as the thick-billed murre), cormorants and black-legged gulls. It is not uncommon to come across seals sunbathing on the rocks off the island.

We’ll anchor in Lavrova Bay for the night.

DAY 4

Today, we head towards the Gulf of Olyutorsky fjords.

After breakfast, we’ll jump into the B3 and set off for some nice runs on slopes that are waiting just for us!

While sailing in the gulf, we’ll certainly have the chance to see both blue whales and killer whales.

The Datcha will spend the night in the bay of Natalya.

DAY 5

Today we’ll reach our journey’s final destination. The northern fjords of Kamchatka are located only a few kilometers from the Chukotka border.

Here you’ll meet neither tourists nor skiers, only the inhabitants of Kamchatka, the Koryaks who live here and are considered the indigenous tribes of this region.

We’ll try to ski to the reindeer breeding site.

During the night, La Datcha will change direction, sailing south to Korfa Bay.

DAY 6

In the morning we’ll reach Korfa Bay and drop anchor next to Tilichiki.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the heliport, flying to the Sredinny Range for another heliskiing session.

Lunch will be a copious, epicurean picnic in the open air amid the never ending, breathtaking scenery.

We’ll spend the evening and night in the Uka estuary.

DAY 7

You’ll be on solid land again, discovering the telluric power of the Kluchevskaya Sopka region, composed of 14 volcanoes and more than 400 smaller volcanic formations and cones.

Of course you’ll have the privilege to ski these incredible volcanic giants, an incomparable heliskiing terrain.

In the evening in Ust-Kamchatsk bay, you’ll have your last dinner on board while enjoying the extraordinary view of the volcanoes of Kamchatka.

DAY 8

Before disembarking, we’ll enjoy a last brunch together on board La Datcha. Then we’ll take you to the Ust-Kamchatks airport for your flight to Petropalovk-Kamchatsky.

The Datcha 77 is a 77-meter long expedition yacht specially designed to withstand the harshest environments, reaching the most remote destinations safely.

The esteemed luxury yacht construction company Amels and Damen is the architect of this 6 deck icebreaker. This ship is as elegant as it is efficient. The Datcha has its own on-board refueling system, autonomous systems and a unique waste management system, providing the ship up to 40 days of autonomy at sea.

The yacht offers luxurious accommodation, hosting up to 12 guests with 25 crew members. The 6 cabins, including two master staterooms and VIP cabin, offer a comfortable, tasteful and refined environment. The timeless, soft-toned decoration creates a perfectly relaxing atmosphere.

The high windows of the bow’s observation lounge, offer a exceptional 270° view. Wellness is the key word: 2 jacuzzis – including 1 on the top deck, sauna, steam bath, massage room and even a gym with a sea view! More uniquely, the ship has a submersible for 3 people as well as a fully certified diving center.

But without a doubt the most important distinction of La Datcha is that it’s been designed for heliskiing lovers. The yacht has 2 helicopters (Eurcopter Ecureuil B3) ready to take you to the top of the most stunning slopes, which are just waiting to be explored. The vessel is also equipped with a large storage space for skis, boots and safety equipment.

The helicopters will be single-turbine Eurocopter AS350B3 Ecureuils or Aérospatiale SA 315B Lamas, which are regularly used for winching, transport, rescue and special operations and, more recently, for heliskiing. These helicopters can carry five people (including the guide), as well as the pilot. They were all built recently and meet all current safety standards. They are carefully serviced and maintained according to international procedures.

FLYING TIME

We prefer to base ourselves on the flight time actually flown – unlike traditional heliskiing agencies which charge flight time based on the vertical drop skied.

Not only is our method of calculation more transparent and more in line with the reality of the costs, but it also allows us complete freedom,  adapting to the conditions and giving you the opportunity to explore the best sites.

So, a good day offers us 7,000 to 10,000 metres of altitude drop for the cost of about 2 ½ hrs of flight time!

The trip options’ announced flight time is the average flight time during each trip. When the weather prevents us from using all these hours, we’ll refund the hours not flown.

Before setting off for Kamchatka, you’ll have to sharpen your edges, wax your bases and get ready to ski “wide and long”. In addition to this bit of advice from Marco, we’ve drawn up a detailed list of things you’ll need to bring.
